Mandy Lifeboats

Posted by on Jul 19, 2017 in Uncategorized

Captain Mandy Lifeboats Mandy is proud to be one of the handful of female Captains at Ride the Ducks. Women are largely responsible for building the original DUKWs during WWII, (Rosie the Riveter, anyone?) “But I have to tell you”, she says –“ I’d MUCH rather drive ‘em!” Doubling as a Captain AND Tour Guide, one of the things Mandy likes the most is when she’s playing a song and sees everyone on her Duck, (and even people on the side of the street!) dancing along with it. Or that giggle that washes forward when someone realizes that it’s a lounge version of Gilligan’s Island that she plays before going into the water. Musically, Mandy likes anything she can dance/bounce around to…. or just completely rock out and get everyone to do it too; and the Ducks give her plenty of opportunity for both! So far, her favorite moment was when she had a small group of Seattle tour guides from a different company ride her tour then later tell herit was the best tour of the city they ever had! “It’s all the smiles that are worth it to me – not to mention all the big hugs I get from the cute little kids for being so...

The Fremont Tour

Posted by on Jul 10, 2017 in Blog, Uncategorized

Our Tour Guides wear many different hats (literally…) and when they aren’t entertaining guests at Ride the Ducks, they often find other ways to show off Seattle. Meet Sonny Daze. He joined the Ride the Ducks family this year and enjoys sharing the city with guests any chance he gets. In fact, Sonny Daze operates a walking tour in the Fremont District of Seattle! With public art around every corner, Fremont has a colorful history and is known as one of the most unique parts of town. This 90-minute walking tour, just a half mile long, promotes public art using a mix of public sculpture and improvisational street theater. During The Fremont Tour, a Street Theater you will participate in an ART ATTACK, fire a 47” tall Fremont Rocket, and meet the Fremont Troll’s long lost cousin under the Aurora Bridge. Your Guide will dress in costume and tell the story of the neighborhood’s public art, even playfully involving strangers at times! Each walking tour is fun and unique. Did you take a tour with Ride the Ducks recently?
