I love being a Duck Captain

Posted by on Jan 16, 2013 in Uncategorized

When we started hiring Duck Captains this year, we asked our team: “What do you love about being a Duck Captain?”  The response was overwhelming! Barring a couple of grammatical corrections, this is what our team said. Check it out! I love being a Duck Captain because… Every summer, I get a SWEET left arm tan No paper cuts! Y…M…C…A! I can get the winter off to travel, ski or just hibernate! I create miles of smiles for our guests!  I get to be part of the wackiest people I have ever met in my life!  I don’t have to think about what I’m going to wear each day.  I already have a slick outfit picked out! People wave at me like I’m a celebrity!  They ask for my autograph and even want pictures with me! When I need supplies for work, I go to Archie McFee’s! My abs are stronger than they used to be from all the laughing! Quackers are awesome! I get to meet interesting people from around the world and drive them into a lake! I cannot recall another job where almost every workday ends with “Wow, today went by quickly!”  At the end of the day, I’m filled with a glow at how many people for...

Happy Birthday Rubber Ducky!

Posted by on Jan 13, 2013 in Uncategorized

It seems like every day is a day for something: Appreciate a Dragon Day (January 16th), Ferris Wheel Day (February 14th) and Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19th). At Ride the Ducks, one of our favorite days is National Rubber Ducky day and today, we celebrate Rubber Ducky’s birthday with the Children’s Museum.   There will be activities throughout the day, including Quacker Parades, Ducky Water Races and Quack-tacular® Story Times. In addition, kids will get a free Wacky Quacker upon entrance. Throughout the year, the Seattle Children’s Museum is chock-full of events and activities along with their ongoing exhibits and educational programs.  It’s a great organization and a ton of fun for kids 10 and under. Here’s a link to a calendar of days that you can celebrate!...

We added blankets on board the Ducks a few years ago and it’s made a big difference in how comfortable our guests are. Plus, the windows roll up, so it’s surprisingly warm,” says Brian Tracey, President/CEO of Ride the Ducks of Seattle. ‘Twas Saturday after Thanksgiving

Posted by on Nov 25, 2012 in Uncategorized

‘Twas Saturday after Thanksgiving and all through the shop, Our Elves were quite busy and working non-stop.Red Quackers were hung round our necks with care,Knowing that Holiday Duck Tours soon would be there. While the office pups were nestled all snug in their beds,Visions of synchronized dance moves played in our heads. Our GM in her kerchief and our Captains in their capsWere all full of energy and no one took naps. And then out on the roads, there arose such a clatter,I sprang from my desk to see what was the matter.Away to the kiosk I flew like a flash,Turned on the computer and threw up the sash. The Macy’s star shown brightly on Seattle’s downtown, And gave the lustre of mid-day to those bustling around. Then what to my wondering eyes should appear,Right next to Starbucks: six Duck mobiles! At each helm was a Captain, such lively lads,I knew in a moment, there was fun to be had!More rapid than eagles the Ducks how they came,And they danced and they boogied,  I called the Captains by name! “Now Watson D’ Boxx and Captain Snow Dayshush! Oh, Phillipe Navidad ! Oh, Yukon Cornelius! Oh, Captain Redd Sledd and Captain Gregg Nogg! Oh, Captain Kris Krinkle and Santana Claus!” On a...
