Having reached a crossroads in 2009 after a long career running a construction company, Captain Clem Chowder left the decision-making process for his next job in the hands of his wife, Mrs. Chowder.
She combed the classifieds and presented exactly two options to Clem.
The first ad was for a job that would require him to walk up to 20 miles a day for the US Forest Service on behalf of trail maintenance and something described as “Bear Patrol/Decoy.”
The very next job posting simply asked, “Do you like people? Are you a fun person to be around? Do you want to drive a big metal box with wheels into Lake Union?”
This time, the answers were definitely, “Yes, YES and YES!”
Since Captain Clem Chowder joined us at Ride the Ducks of Seattle, he has taken huge amounts of people on countless trips through the city and on the lake having copious amounts of fun talking about history and telling bad jokes. (Or, is that talking about jokes and telling bad history?)
Either way, when you meet Clem for the first time he will say, “Hello, very much!” and take you on a great ride!
As you can imagine, being a tour guide at Ride the Ducks is a ton of fun and you get to listen to a lot of great music. Our Quackmasters of Fun have compiled a Spotify playlist of some of their favorite songs that you might hear on your Duck Tour. If you ride with Captain Clem Chowder, be sure to request Yakety Sax!
