From the sound of his name, you’d think that Captain Marty Graw comes to us from the bayous of Baton Rouge or the fabulous French Quarter of New Orleans.
Au countraire. (Nope)
Marty is actually a very rare species: a native Washingtonian! Born in Tacoma, he’s been a Seattleite for many years now, leaving his mark on area stages as both a performer and a director. Some of his favorite roles include Atticus Finch in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Elwood Dowd in “Harvey,” and Pseudolus in “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” Recently asked, “What was your last play?” he replied, “I haven’t done it yet!!”
Though he’s vastly experienced in the wonderful world of “THE THEATRE,” one of Marty’s greatest acting challenges has been right here at Ride the Ducks of Seattle, where during training, he was told, “just be yourself!” We don’t want our guides to be “playing the part” of a Tour Guide; they’re just outgoing, likeable folks who happen to know a lot about the city. We’re happy to say that he met that challenge and then some!
Captain Marty Graw likes to bring a bit of Mardi Gras madness to each of his tours and he encourages his guests to “Laissez le bon temps roulez!!” (“Let the good times roll!”)
As you can imagine, being a tour guide at Ride the Ducks is a ton of fun and you get to listen to a lot of great music. Our Quackmasters of Fun have compiled a Spotify playlist of some of their favorite songs that you might hear on your Duck Tour. If you ride with Captain Marty Graw, be sure to request When the Saints Go Marching In! (Of course!)
