Looking for Some Things to Do in Seattle with Your Family?   Chihuly Garden and Glass If you think about glass you use every day, you might think of the cup you’re drinking from or the windshield on your car. Seems like an uninteresting thing, right? Just one step into Chihuly Garden and Glass and you’ll realize that glass couldn’t be more versatile or amazing. Dale Chihuly, an artist from Tacoma, Washington, started experimenting with glass blowing in 1965. Inspired by the world around him, the colors and shapes he twists into the glass reflect everything from flowers to sea life. He is most famous for his colossal installations such as chandeliers that hang in the Natural History Museum in London, England, or the glass wall in the Toyama Glass Art Museum, in Toyama, Japan. Seattle Center Monorail Soaring 605 feet above Seattle’s roadways you’ll spot The Seattle Center Monorail, built for the 1962 World’s Fair. The blue and red cars carry over two million people a year to and from West Lake and Seattle Centers. The Museum of Pop Culture was even designed so that the monorail could pass through it on the way to the terminal! As of October 2019, you can use an ORCA card, the...

Thank you, Marshawn Lynch 0

Thank you, Marshawn Lynch

Ride the Ducks has been showing locals and tourists the beautiful city of Seattle for the past 20 years and we frequently get involved in local events. From taking Starlight kids from Swedish Hospital to splash into Lake Union or delivering Random Ducks of Kindness to passersby on the streets, we have hundreds of fond memories of celebrating our amazing city.   When we heard Marshawn Lynch took out a full page ad in the Sunday Seattle Times, there was an immediate buzz as we were instantly transported back to that chilly February day. Who could forget the day when one million 12s from around the city lined the streets to support the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks? We started talking about all of the Seahawk signs and jerseys, and how many people skipped work and school to celebrate for hours in the cold. We laughed at how the cell towers were overloaded and how we’ve still been meaning to put together the footage into a montage video. Then Captain Rik O’Shay walked into the office. “All of a sudden, I turned to my right and Marshawn Lynch was there, next to me. Beast Mode was RIGHT THERE! I couldn’t believe it!”   We can’t tell you how many...

Giving Never Goes Out Of Style

Every year we donate more than $10,000 in tickets to non-profit organizations around the Pacific Northwest. Whether we are getting involved in local events, or paying it forward through fun campaigns like Random Ducks of Kindness, Ride the Ducks strives to make Seattle a better place. This fall we supported the 6th Annual Ride into the Holidays event with the Seattle Monorail and Treehouse, an incredible non-profit organization that provides youth in foster care the opportunities and services to be just as successful in school and in life as any other kid. On November 25th, smiles were put on the faces of hundreds of foster children and their families. They rode the Monorail from Seattle Center with balloon animals in hand, and participated in raffles with awesome prizes. Each family left with a FREE annual membership to the Pacific Science Center and lots of other goodies—how cool is that? Next stop: Westlake Center! Families walked over to the IKEA Holiday Carousel where they were welcomed with hot chocolate, cookies, and plush toy donations, followed by the tree lighting celebration and—of course—going on a spin around the carousel itself! This event could not have happened without the generous donations from the Seattle community. The holiday season may be coming to a close,...

We were thrilled to partner with Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest and The Seattle Children’s Museum for a fun-filled day with local Starlight families in honor of Pediatric Duck Day!  We hosted over 150 children and their families for a Duck Tour and had a BLAST!  After seeing all the sights of Seattle, the Ducks splashed into Lake Union to cruise around Gas Works Park and saw breathtaking views of the skyline.  After the tour, The Seattle Children’s Museum hosted Starlight families for an ice cream social and activities.  It was an amazing day and we were so excited to be a part of it! A huge thank you also goes out to Pepsi for donating waters for all the families, the event came together with support from a lot of great partners and we are so lucky to be a part of such a great community. Starlight’s mission is to help seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear, and isolation through entertainment, education, and family activities.  Ride the Ducks of Seattle has been a proud partner with Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest since 2008.  To learn more about our partnership, click...
